I usually hate change. I wish I were someone who looked at change in the face with open arms and a smile, but I'm not. I'm working on it, but I still cringe and hide away in the corner when I see it coming. To say my life has turned every direction possible this year would be an understatement. There have been changes in my business, my relationship, and much more. Moving to my new apartment however, was a change I did accept with an open heart.
I've dreamed about having my own place since I was a teenager and it has finally become a reality. I love coming home to the silence, to my couch, my kitchen, my flowers on the dining room table. It's an amazing feeling having a place where everything in it represents a little part of you. Every picture, every book, every record is mine and only mine. I can't tell you how huge this is for me. It's almost like having my own little photography studio that also serves as a hide away from the world (because sometimes you just need to), a dance floor for dance parties (because you know I love a good dance party) or a quiet space for a glass of wine with a friend. This little apartment has given me such big things already and I'm so grateful.
To celebrate this new victory, I had some of my best friends over a while back to eat, drink and be merry with me. It turned out to be such a special night not only because there was an impromptu dance party, but because Josh and Lacy were in town from New Orleans (they're the ones who are ridiculously in love and can't stop kissing each other - see photos below). I hadn't seen them in so long so it was great getting to spend some time with them. Lacy is also a fantastic cook so dinner was of course incredible. Mussels, linguine with pesto and bruschetta...just sayin.
So, here's to accepting change with grace, to friends who share in your happiness and to not being afraid of turning your life around. Cheers :)
