Happy Valentine's Day LA | Lifestyle

I was thinking the other day how funny it is that Valentine's Day is such a love/hate "holiday."  Some people go all out and others rather pretend it's not happening.  Even people who are in relationships don't always embrace the day as a special occasion.  I personally wanted to do a shoot embracing the love I have for...wait for it....LA.

I was born and raised in southern California, but have only lived in the city of LA for about six years.  It's amazing to me how much I still haven't uncovered, how many places I haven't been to yet and how much there is to do.  There are so many restaurants I want to try and clothing boutiques I want to discover.  I especially love the east side of LA for it's infamous secret nooks and crannies, dive bars and its artsy vibe.  I can spend day after day just roaming Sunset and going into every record store (yes they still exist!) and then stopping at the Cheese Store (yes, there is a cheese store) and buying tons of snacks and bottles of wine.  It's basically heaven.

So, weather you love Valentine's Day or could simply do without it, here are a few photos of my homage to Silverlake.  Thanks Jenna and Aaron for spending an afternoon with me and helping me capture some of my favorite places.  Hmmm maybe this should be a thing...a series perhaps?  Oooo I like where this is going...

Onesies Poolside | Editorial Portraiture

I took a walk the other day with my good friend Amber and as we sipped our coffees and talked about our upcoming weekends, we laughed about how excited we were to really just put on our pjs and hang out.  Amber is especially particular to onesies.  I've always wanted to buy one and relish in it's warm, cozy fleece and beautiful convenience.  You don't have to layer!  It's a one stop shop to comfort and that's all I ever want.

In any case, I digress.  This walk brought me quite a lot of perspective.  I realized I needed to buy a onesie not only for its glorious and obvious qualities, but because it would inevitably bring my friends and I together for pajama parties and movies and cocktails.  Better yet, hanging poolside with cocktails.  Just like that, a photo shoot was born.

Girls from the Lion (Reunion 4) | Personal

Happy new year my loves!  I hope your holidays turned out the way you wanted and that you of course laughed your way through them.  As October approaches I usually cringe a little knowing what lies ahead of me, but then January comes and I realize nothing was as stressful as I thought it was going to be because I surrounded myself with friends.

Speaking of which, this year I hosted the fourth annual MGM holiday brunch at my place and it was so fun!  I always laugh so hard when I'm with these girls and it's something I look forward to each year.  We eat, we reminisce, we catch up and laugh our butts off and it's seriously such a good time.  We always end up spending the whole day together just lounging around avoiding errands we have to run or people we need to see.  We just move everything around (trinkets, vases, photos) to make room for all the food, plant ourselves on the couch and keep making coffee and mimosas. 

May you have tons of laughter, friendship and mimosas in this new year :)
