Bagavagabond Projects

One thing I am constantly trying to improve on is consistency.  Ever since I was a kid I have been this ball of off the wall energy.  There isn't any focus to my direction, I just think, create, jump, fall, etc., not knowing where I'll bounce next. This year I decided to stop bouncing.  I've been striving for clarity, self motivation,  stability.

The last two weeks I have found myself in a rut and the reason for this is I have fallen off the wagon - I've been inconsistent.  I stopped shooting, creating projects for myself and this always gets me in a funk.  I decided that although I haven't had time to work on new things lately, I could finally re-visit old projects.  Deep down in my barrel of ventures and memories I found photos from my visits to Colombia that I never edited and have always wanted to display in my home.  Here they are...finally..completed :)

Although my father grew up in Medellin, he was born here in Santo Domingo and lived there until he was five years old.  He says it still looks exactly the same as he remembers.

No matter where you go in Colombia, no matter how rich or poor or distracted the people are, pride is never scarce.

The first house my father lived in (uncle on left, father on right).

I don't know who these girls are, but I'm so glad I caught the looks on their faces.

Trip to El Penol with my family. El Penol is one of the biggest rocks in the world.

There I am all the way to the right in the sunglasses!

This photo is very special to me.  There is so much history here.  Here stands  (from left to right) my great aunt, great uncle, mother (isn't she beautiful?), another great aunt.  This is my uncle's house in Rio Negro that my cousins built for my uncle so he could live more comfortably.  The house stands on the farm he has mended for over 30 years.  My mother often stayed there as a young girl and each time she visits you can always catch her wiping a few tears away.

My favorite place in my great aunt's house in Rio Negro.

In other news, I want to invite you to a party!!  On August 21, 2010 I will be collaborating with different artists in in an event called BAGAVAGABONDS DREAM ART EXPLOSION.  All the art displayed that night will be auctioned off and every penny goes to a number of charities.  I am really looking forward to sharing my latest work and perhaps meeting new faces / seeing old ones :)

Click here for more information. (please note it is open bar all night!)  Hope to see you there!
