Palm Springs Wedding - Lucy & Jim

Ha!  I think the title to this post is very appropriate considering it's about my friend Lucy's wedding.

Back in February I blogged about my friend Lucy.  We met at a photo workshop in West Hollywood and became friends instantly.  After roaming the streets with our cameras for a while, she asked me to photograph her wedding, which was coming up in July.  I was honored that she trusted me that much after only getting to know me for a few hours!  I of course agreed and looked forward to her special day.

On July 1st, my trusty assistant/boyfriend (wink) set out to Palm Springs at the Ace Hotel.  When we arrived I immediately missed the 75 degree weather in Hollywood because..well... it was 114 degrees!!  Yeah, it was out of control.  I just couldn't imaging getting into a wedding dress with full makeup in that heat.  BUT Lucy was a trooper and she looked beautiful.

Things I loved about her wedding:
*Her non traditional dress (I love that it was a mix of pink and lavender).
*Her vintage earrings - gorgeous.
*Her red lipstick.
*Her family and friends who seemed so invested in she and Jim's (hubby) new life.
*The feeling of romance every time they looked at each other.
*The candles and trinkets of Lucy and Jim that were scattered all over the place such as old photos.
*The DJ!  He was incredible and I quickly learned that he was a good friend of Lucy and Jim.  He played  the BEST music, including LCD Soundsystem.  Amazing.
*Jim's dance moves.  That guy can dance!
*The fact that it was an evening wedding - less hot!
*Seeing Lucy so happy :)

Lucy, I feel so lucky to have been there on that day.  Thank you for wanting me to be part of it because I had such a great time.  It was seriously the best excuse to put on a bathing suit during the day and a dress at night! xo

Testing the poppers!!

Anyone who knows me knows I CAN'T hear music and not dance.  This photo is courtesy of my sneaky boyfriend / assistant (Abe) who stole my camera to capture this moment.  Hahaha oh boy....
