New Percpective

Early last month I took a road trip to Santa Rosa for my friend's wedding.  Since it was a six hour drive I decided to document the car ride (don't worry, I wasn't driving).  This was NOT an easy feat, considering car rides usually make me fall asleep in 5 minutes flat, but I did it and along the way I realized a few things....

First, LA's traffic, noise, aggression seems to disappear at 6:00 in the morning.

Second, no road trip is worth taking unless I have carmel coated peanuts and sour candy.

Third, the drive up the 5 Freeway is not as ugly and blah as I remembered.  Everything seemed different - the colors, the air, the sound of silence.  It was strangely peaceful rather than frustrating.  I enjoyed looking out my window searching for something beautiful in a sea of repetition.  I payed attention.  I stayed - patient.  I didn't allow myself to get distracted or try to start a new conversation, which is probably why I missed so much on my previous trips.  I just let go and pushed the shutter button.
