Love For My Roots - Part Two

People always say that L.A. never feels like Christmas during the holiday season - that you need to go to New York to experience it in full effect.  Well Colombia gives New York a run for its money.  It is literally Christmas the entire month of December.  Everywhere you go it is decorated with the Christmas theme from December 1 to mid January unlike anything you have ever seen.  Medellin in particular is drenched in lights and installations and is the most spectacular thing to see up close.  People look forward to their city of lights all year long and with that excitement also comes pride and joy.  You can walk the streets at night and see people sitting on a park bench under a tree of stars or drive past an intricate world of fantasy made up of lights.

Coming back to L.A. I realized how much we miss out on during the holidays.  Sometimes we loose track of our sense of spirit because we're too busy buying overpriced gifts or eating too many sugar cookies.  What I experienced in this last trip is that I need to refocus and remember what is important to me.  I also need to bring out the extra twinkle lights that are put away ever so neatly in the living room drawer...
